Long known, and still referred to by some, as Gary Works Supervisor's Club, River Pointe Country Club began a new chapter in its history in April 2010 when GolfVisions Management, Inc. launched it as a public facility. This lovely 27-hole course offers private-club conditions, beautiful natural surroundings and a golfer-friendly layout at pricing accessible to a broad segment of the golfing population.

A strong advocate for growing the game of golf, GolfVisions President Tim Miles, Sr., says he was drawn to River Pointe because of its fun yet challenging layout, easy walkability for juniors and anyone seeking the exercise, and versatility - with three 9s, golfers can play 9, 18 or all 27 anytime and getting a tee time is never an issue.

General Manager Pat Honan confirms River Pointe’s appeal. “This is a golfer-friendly course, not intimidating, not tricked up, but amply challenging and really beautiful with lovely ponds and trees,” he says. “Everywhere I go, I’m telling folks we want to be their community golf course. River Pointe offers tremendous value as a high-quality golf course at a very affordable pricepoint.”

GolfVisions is operating River Pointe out of the facility’s bright and spacious (1,400-square-foot) former pro shop. Now serving delicious grill fare - burgers, brats, hotdogs and chicken sandwiches - River Pointe offers a number of indoor and outdoor seating options for golfers looking to refresh after their rounds or between 9s. The shop also stocks essentials (gloves, balls, tees) for golfers looking to replenish their bags.

Though tucked away off the proverbial “beaten path,” River Pointe is just 5 minutes from Highway 30 and easily accessed from all of northwest Indiana and even Chicago’s south suburbs.
